Coffee Card Tutorial

Welcome to my FIRST tutorial!!  I didn't see this idea anywhere but actually just made it up myself.  WOOHOO there's a first!!  LOL!  It's fairly simple to make and an inexpensive way to send a small giftie.  You could also use the juice packs from the grocery store for people who don't drink coffee.

I make my cards 6" x 6" so if you make yours a little smaller adjust accordingly.  In this case I also distressed everything but that's optional.

First piece is 6" x 12".  I scored at 5 7/8" and then at 6 1/8" giving you a 1/4" spine on your card.  This could be made wider if you like because it will stand anyway.

Then you'll need 2 - layering pieces that are 5 3/4" x 5 7/8" and this is layering by 1/8".  I know some of you like 1/2" but once again you can adjust to the way you like it.

This is my sister's card on the inside, which you can see HERE and you'll notice later that they will change to a different background.  I had already taken a step too far when I realized I needed this picture.  LOL!!

I made this piece to go across the right hand panel but it's optional.  If you choose to do this it's 2" x 5 7/8".

Next you'll need a piece of paper that measures 2" x 5".  Take that piece and score it at 1/4" then at 1/2" and do the same at the other end like this:

Now you can finish decorating this piece how you like. I added some patterned paper and a piece of ribbon and at the end you'll also see I added some snowflakes.

Now adhere your double-sided tape to the first 1/4" at both ends.

Next attach your piece from above so you get this.  I then added 2 fabric roses because you won't hit them when you close the card.

After you've completed this piece don't adhere it quite yet.  Now you can tackle the front of the card because it's easier to lay it flat to finish the front.

Next adhere your coffee holder to the inside of the card.  Now this is where you'll notice the inside of my card changed from what my sister had to what I was working on.  I chose to emboss mine.

Next I've taken just a teeny piece of a glue dot and put it on the center of the pack of singles coffee from Starbucks then stuck it.  It's easy enough for the recipient to make a little tug and it will come out.  An optional idea is HERE where I tied on some nice Baker's Christmas twine to each packette.

And VOILA your finished product!!!  If you make one of these I would LOVE to see it!!

I hope I've worded this correctly enough for you to figure it out.  If not, that's why I added a ton of pictures.  LOL!

Check out Simone's coffee card too for some more ideas.

HAVE FUN!!

Deep Ocean Challenge

This week for at Deep Ocean Challenge the theme is Christmas and they asked me to be a guest for them so I did up another shaker card with Flower Soft for the inside!!  Doesn't it look like amazing snow?!!

If you click on the picture to enlarge it the glitter on her hat and heart look really cool!!

Not only did I make a shaker card but I made a "book card"!!  This was such a fun project!!  AND I will post the tutorial for you soon!!   I used my Pearl Pen for the snow on the tree and fence.  Something a little different and not quite the effect I was hoping for but very shiny!!!

AND TA-DA!!  The inside!!!  I put LINDT chocolates in the box and just added a piece of acetate over the top so they didn't fall out.  You can very easily pull it out to eat the yummies!!

A closer view of the inside tag.

If you would like to join them this week please see the other inspirational projects at Deep Ocean Challenge blog.  So very talented ladies on this team!  Thanks for inviting me to be a part of this challenge!

TPS Winter Collection Preview

Tickled Pink is introducing the new Winter Collection line, which will be available only in DIGI!  So far Little Evie and Ivy have been previewed so if you'd like to see those ones head on over to TPS blog and check them out.

Today I'm showing you Fairy Nadine.  I think this is my first fairy and my favorite part of it was doing her wings.  You can make them look so pretty with glitter!!

Although...OMG!!  I had her colored, which took me forever for some reason, then I decided to add color around her and when that didn't work I cut her out.  5 FREAKIN HOURS!!  WTH?!!  UGH!!  Anyway, I paired her up with the gorgeous Bo Bunny "Snowfall" papers and that incredible wooden star from Kaiser Craft.  I also stickled her wings but if you'd like a closer look just click on the picture.

If you do get a chance to head over to the TPS blog, leave a comment and be entered to win the whole winter set!!  These digi's go on sale on Nov. 18th (17th in US & Canada) and if you're quick you could get in on the monthly digi sale!!

CLP #42

We're back again!!  How are you making out with those Christmas cards?  Me?  I still need another 17 I think.  It's looking like I'm finally going to break down and start making multiples.  I know I should do that in the first place but I just love originality.

Anyway for my CLP sketch this month I've used an LOTV image called "Christmas Bears Sledge".  I just think these things are so stinkin' cute!!

Yet another wonderful sketch by Chelsea!!

I did a little more with this card then I usually do.  I scored the card in the middle to give it a bit of space between front and back cover.  I think only 1/4".  Of course now I regret not doing a tutorial.  Anyway, then I cut a 2nd piece to make a place to put single portions of COFFEE!!  I put very small amounts of glue dots on the top AND bottom so they will stay but are easily removed by tugging slightly.

The inside says;
"There's nothing like a cup
of warm hugs on a cold day
from a loving friend"

A closer view of the packettes.

Don't you need a sketch, especially for a Chrismas card?  This is our last sketch of the year and In2Stamps is hosting this month's challenge.  You could win a 10,00 euro gift voucher for the store and WOW there is some sweet stuff there!

So if you need some inspiration please check out the CLP blog and find out what the ladies have been up to.

Enjoy your week!!

MDUC #122

"So Sentimental"

Ok so how shocked and disappointed was I when I found out what the challenge was for Magnolia Down Under this week!!  Make your sentiment the focal point of the card.  WELL, as some of my friends know, sentiments are NOT my strong point BUT when you have an image that's half it's usual size made for holding a sign then PERFECT!!

I went with a non-traditional color as the new Magnolia papers very much inspired me.  They are just gorgeous!! This is my first coloring after going to the intermediate Copic course.  I learned more about light sources and while I don't quite have that mastered yet I do have a better idea about it.  Now practice!!

If you zoom into the picture you can see that I've Stickled a lot of the layers with Stardust.  Love the sparklies!!

So I hope you'll get a chance to join us this week in MDUC's challenge.  The ladies have done a fabulous job once again if you need inspiration.

I'm going to enter my card into these challenges:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWIN!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY #2 TWIN!

My beautiful sister was born 22 minutes after me.  My poor mom didn't know until I was born that she was having another!  Can you even imagine?!!!  What an amazing surprise tho...I thought.  hee hee Thanks mom!!  Woo hoo a best friend for life!!  Just that instant!!

Unfortunately it's our 40th this year but it's never so bad when you use the buddie system.  LOL!!

For our birthday we went to Vancouver and watched a hockey game.  We got to cheer 7 times against Washington who only got to cheer 4 times.  Awww too bad.  hee hee My hubby came with us but since he's a Boston fan he was pretty quiet.  HA HA!!

This is the same picture Simone has posted on her blog too.  She's on the left and that's me on the right.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SWEETEST FRIEND!!  I love you sooooo much!

And now you're birthday card...A SHAKER CARD!!  I'm hoping I've gotten to her house before this posts.  LOL!!  I think I should be safe by now.  We both said that we were going to use Saturated Canary cuz we think they are just so cute!!

"Whut?  Time for another stinkin' birthday....sigh"

It never ceases to amaze me that when you're making a card for someone special you end up liking it yourself.  hee hee  So I'm going to enter it into a few challenges.  HECK why not?  It's my birthday right?!!!

Card Makin' Mama's - Cut It out - go for the die cuts and don't ya just love Tim Holtz dies?  I luuuv that they can cut chipboard.  Same with the Magnolia Doohickey's. **

Deep Ocean Challenge - Sweet (Won Top 3)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Anything Goes **

Ok I think that's it for this time.

And what else did I get for my birthday?  I got a weekend away to the Intermediate Copic class and got my certificate and pin so a whole bunch of new things to practice!!!  "I'm not worthy".....LMBO!!!  Had sooooo much fun and went a little crazy at the scrampin stores, which made it easier for hubby.  Now he doesn't have to worry about buying me anything!!  LOL!!  My mom gave me money to spend at Wild Orchid Crafts and I can't WAIT (thanks mom!) and my sister is giving me the new Copic bag!! (Thanks buddie!)  OMG COULD IT GET ANY BETTER?!!  I r so spoiled.  But at 40 I deserve it dammit.  LOL!!

Have a great day!
